L’appréhension et le terme

Notions : on définit l’appréhension comme l’étape au cours de laquelle l’esprit humain se représente telle ou telle autre chose dans l’intélligence, sans rien en affirmer, ni rien en nier. C’est l’étape de la conception des idées. Ces concepts sont exprimés par des concepts ou mots précis.

Objet

L’objet de l’appréhension c’est la conception des idées et le terme ou le mot.

Le terme ( mot ) est l’expression verbal de ce qui est conçu ( l’idée).

L’abstraction c’est l’opération mentale grâce à la quelle notre esprit est capable de distinguer dans une chose les propriétés essentielles qui la définit.

Définition d’un concept

Le concept se définit par les caractères essentiels et particuliers qu’on retient pour le former.

Il se définit en comprehension et un extension.

On définit un terme en comprehension quand on énumère ou on lui attribue toutes les significations qu’il contient.

On définit un terme en extension lorsqu’on determine l’être auquel il s’etend. On parle d’un terme singulier lorsqu’il ne concerne qu’un être. D’un terme general quand il s’applique à une classe ou une espèce.
